REASON FOR BLACKBURN ROVERS VS HULL CITY PREDICTION
- Blackburn have the fifth-best defensive record at home in the Championship this season.
- Only two teams have kept more clean sheets than Blackburn at home this term.
- Less than four goals have been scored in 88% of Blackburn’s home games.
- Hull have lost four of their last five games.
Hosts strong at home
Disappointing as Saturday’s loss to Fulham was, Blackburn have reason to feel upbeat ahead of Tuesday’s clash. Rovers are no easy team to beat at Ewood, as just one loss in their last 11 suggests. During that time, Tony Mowbray’s men have got the better of Brentford, while they’ve drawn with Nottingham Forest and Preston. Clearly, they’re no mugs.
What has been particularly impressive about Blackburn at home of late has been their ability to keep teams at bay. They’ve conceded more than once in none of their last seven at Ewood Park. They’ve kept a clean sheet in three of those seven. Rovers have also restricted teams well on their own patch in recent times, conceding no more than four shots on target in any of their last eight home matches.
Tigers slipping
Barring their narrow defeat against promotion-chasing opposition last time out, Blackburn are doing well. But the same can’t exactly be said for Hull, who come into this match having won none of their last five, four of which they’ve lost.
Scoring goals has been a problem for Tuesday’s visitors in recent weeks, so it doesn’t exactly bode well that their talismanic top scorer departed for pastures new during the recent transfer window. Hull have scored in each of their last three but have scored no more than once in any of that trio of games, while they’ve now notched just three in their last five. Such numbers are far from ideal.
Hosts appeal in the betting
Hull’s recent form does not bode well ahead of this match, and without Bowen doing the business, their scoring issues are unlikely to improve dramatically any time soon. Add in that Blackburn have done a good job of restricting teams at this venue and a home win starts to appeal.
Specifically, ‘Blackburn to Win & Under 3.5 Goals’ gets the nod. Without being the biggest scorers, Blackburn had won five out of eight home matches prior to their narrow defeat against a side better than Hull last time out. With their ability to keep teams at bay, conceding just four in their last seven at Ewood Park, they don’t need to be the most devastating side offensively.
Against a Hull outfit struggling to get going offensively, the hosts are backed to win in typically low-scoring fashion. After all, 88% of their home games this season have contained less than four goals. Correct score punters can therefore side with a 1-0 Rovers win
