Lampard wants new Chelsea deals for Tomori and Nigerian Abraham after impressive starts

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed his desire to retain Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori on a long-term basis after their impressive starts to the season.

The pair, who graduated from the club’s esteemed academy, have become permanent members of the Chelsea first-team this season under Lampard who succeeded Maurizio Sarri in the summer.

Tomori has previously learned at the feet of Lampard when he was sent out on loan to Derby County last season. A transfer embargo imposed by FIFA, plus the appointment of the former Chelsea midfielder, opened the door for the likes of Tomori and Abraham to walk through.

Both as well as Mason Mount, who also spent the 2018/19 season at the Rams, have been mainstays in Lampard’s exuberant side with Abraham being their leading scorer in the Premier League after registering eight goals across nine outings.

Their domestic performances haven’t gone unnoticed with England boss Gareth Southgate calling them up in the recent international break and they’ve even been linked with moves away.

Abraham’s present deal expires in 2022 with Tomori’s up a year earlier and Lampard, following a promising start, is keen for them to extend their stays but stresses it’s out of his hands.
